“Restore balance. Most kids have technology, school and extracurricular activities covered. It’s time to add a pinch of adventure, a sprinkle of sunshine and a big handful of outdoor play.”
Penny Whitehouse
Morning Program
We encourage students to start mornings attentively with Yoga, stretches, and mindful moments. Giving children the opportunity to grow their skills in self-regulation, self-direction, and self-reflection, leading to the development of physical, social, emotional and intellectual wellbeing.
SCHEDULE: Students can be dropped off as early as 6:30 AM or 7:00 AM. They may enjoy their packed breakfast at our picnic tables ‘in the park’ or participate in Mindful Mornings. Staff will bring the students to the bus stop for Monticello Central School district at 809 Creamery Rd. on time each day.
Afternoon Program
After 6 hours of traditional school, we believe kids deserve a brain break and an outlet for their energies. The Woods at Valley Daycare was created to provide youth with the opportunity to spend more time outdoors. Valley Woods aims to inspire young learners to gain a better connection to themselves, each other, and the world around them through child-directed play-based learning.
SCHEDULE: Students are met at the bus stop at 809 Creamery Rd. for the Monticello Central School District Bus. After 30 minutes of energy burning activity, we will enjoy our packed snacks, and then spend the next 30-45 minutes working on homework and study. The rest of the afternoon will be spent enjoying nature until pick up.
Program Information
Flexible, nature-based care and enrichment program, for students up to age 10. Busing is available for students attending Monticello Central School District.
Before and after school, our outdoor-based program goers spend time on trails, playgrounds, and gardening spaces creating farm and wildlife experiences. Children will build social skills, confidence, coordination, and an appreciation for nature. With mindful mornings and homework help in the afternoon, children can learn, explore, and grow.
Before and After School program does not run on scheduled school closures, scheduled half days, or when the School District implements delayed openings or cancels afterschool activities. In cases of extreme weather, the program may close or cancel. As a fully outdoor program, there are covered areas, special considerations will be made in regards to inclement weather including wind and thunderstorms, cold temperatures below 13F including wind chill.
Drop-in care is ideal for unpredictable schedules, last minute plan changes and sporadic child care needs. Registration must be completed in order to participate in the drop-in program.
A one-time $75 registration fee will be issued to students at the time of Enrollment.
Registration does not incur a fee and does not guarantee enrollment. An associate will reach out when the registration form is submitted to begin the enrollment process.
